Dental tools for sculpture

Instead of throwing them out, our dentist saves tools for us that are no longer quite sharp enough for his purposes.

Homemade Pottery Tools

I like to make homemade pottery tools. It saves money, you can customize them to suit your needs, and it fun. My favorite example is a cutting wire made from a piece of fishing line connected between two old ball-point pens. Steve http://www.pottery-on-the-wheel.com

Cruella

I save all my clay scraps...I just don't like waste! I turn it into paperclay, which is lovely to work, simple to do, and good for throwing as well as handbuilding and sculpture. At our studio, we save foam trays, newspapers, cardboard tubes etc. In short, everything is possible for another use. Even the little plastic cat food containers are great for studio use. Someone can always point out a value for items you may not think of.

We get free buckets for our college ceramics dept. from local painters. After the left over latex paint dries it can be peeled out, we get the lids too they have nice tight seals for our glazes.
