How I Made This Pottery Piece
Had a lady that came to a craft fair I was in and asked if I made Yarn Bowls...well, had no idea...but she told me, even drew me a picture...so couldn't wait to get home and try my hand at it...even added a little something to it to make it unique....actually made 3 of them, only one with the unique part to it...so the other 2 are on my photo page....she bought one, and the other 2 sold at the next fair....this is wheel thrown, using stoneware, then dipped in 2 glazes fired to cone 5 fast...
How I Fired It
This glaze does good when it is cooled a little quickly...I use an Olympic 1218 oxidation kiln. Firing to cone 5 takes about 4 1/2 hours, then cool down takes about 10 hours. I Have to wait until the kiln gets below 100 degrees or I hear the singing of the pieces which sounds beautiful, but means close the door!!!
Advice
- Well, since these sold so quickly, have orders for more, I can't say I would do anything differently, except maybe I wish I knew about them sooner!
