How to Throw a Pitcher

Center your clay on the potter's wheel. Open it and create the floor to the width you want the pitcher's bottom to be, keeping in mind that the pitcher will shrink as it dries and is fired.

Throw the cylinder so that areas where you will stretch the walls are slightly thicker than areas which will not be stretched. Use your hands on both sides of the wall to check for wall thickness. Be sure to dry and lightly compress the floor between each throw.
