Historic pottery offers us new ideas and an opportunity to broaden our own voice with the clay. As a fellow craftsman following in this earthy tradition, I find it also strengthens my feeling of connectedness with the potters and the people as a whole --- to those who lived, worked, and loved in the past.
The Guanches were a group of people who settled in the Canary Islands (off the northwestern coast of Africa) between 1000 BC and 100 BC. My thanks to Sandra Grauschopf for bringing these potters to my attention and for allowing me to use her images.
