How to Attach Clay Handles to Pottery

Attach the Upper End of the Clay Handle

The upper end of the handle can be abutted directly to the pot, or it can be curved around to meet the pot in a side-by-side joint. Once you have decided where you wish the handle to meet the pot, score the handle in that area.

Support the interior of the pot where the handle will be attached with one hand. With the other hand, firmly apply and press the scored upper end of the handle to the scored and slipped area at the top of your pot.
