Apply slip to the scored areas of the pot. It is best if the slip is made from the same clay body as the pot and handle, and as thick as possible.

If slip is unavailable for some reason, it is better not to use water to attach handles. Instead, use some of your own saliva. Whether it be due to the lightly acidic nature of saliva or some other factor, handles attach better with it than with water.
