Not All Clays Are Created Equal

For all we talk about clay as if it was a unified, singular substance, various clays are hardly the same. Not only can colors and maturation temperatures vary widely, but also the working properties such as elasticity, green strength, fired strength, shrinkage during drying and firing, and the amount of absorption of water once fired.
