Test Anxiety?

Tuesday November 18, 2008

Is the realm of glaze testing just for those who are developing new glaze formulas? If you use commercially prepared glazes, is testing something you should do? Is glaze testing only for the scientists among us?

No, not at all. Testing glazes doesn't have to be scary or even only for those proficient with a triple beam scale. (After all, how do you think those folk got to be that skilled?) And although testing does require a bit of effort, the long-term results are worth it.

It is a good idea to get into a habit of doing some glaze testing every once in a while. (Some potters put a few tests into nearly every kiln.) If you are using only commercially prepared glazes, don't worry. You can really benefit from running tests, too!

How to Test Pottery Glazes will help alleviate any pottery test anxiety you may experience. And please, share your results in the Pottery Forum!
