I have never used decals or transfers in my own work, so I was interested to find this tutorial at Skinny laMinx (Heather Moore's blog) on creating and using transfers for ceramics.
Heather isn't a potter herself --- she's an illustrator (among other things) who wanted to put her drawings on plates. Seeing what she had done, though, opened some very intriguing doors. Much of what she has done could easily be adapted and used by potters. If you have any screen printing experience, all the better!
