How do you pronounce the word, "kiln"? Do you say "kil-n", or "kill?" I've heard it both ways, although I personally pronounce the "n." Rob Kyff, the WordGuy, has a fascinating article on the history of the word "kiln" and its pronunciation. (Do note that the history of a four-letter word is also briefly touched upon, if that would offend you.)
Either way you say it, though, kilns are cool! Especially when they are really, really, hot. Do you know 6 Ways to Heat a Kiln? What about What Kind of Kiln Is It? I'll give you the scoop, even for 3 Types of Specialized Kilns. Are you in the market for a kiln? Check out Kiln Buying Basics!

I was taught kill in HS, and it has stayed with me, but I have to admit that it always sounds awkward coming out of my mouth.
I know what you mean, Deb! When quite young, I had a teacher who said it as “kill”; it was a relief to me to find a different pronunciation, let me tell you. *whew!* My love of the clay just didn’t match with the homonym.
Excellent post I actually didn’t know that! Glad to see you updating this even during these tough economic times.
