This stoneware bottle was built using mainly coil techniques, with some pinching techniques utilized for certain areas. The piece uses an Albany slip glaze, a gray stony matte glaze, and colored slips. It was fired to cone 9 in a reduction atmosphere.

Cool catch for WW mine’s up too hope you can drop by.
What a great piece of pottery! What is the “bottle” used for?
I had given this fellow to my sister, who I believe put him on a shelf away from small hands — I don’t believe he was actually ever used as a container.
Perhaps he’s a pottery dream catcher!
OMG, that is sooooo cute. Adorable.
My sister, who works in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is a big fan of penguins. She’s going to love this!
Great bottle. Reminds me of “Mary Poppins”.
Mary Poppins! It took a moment, but sudden visions of Dick van Dyke in those wonderful “penguin pants” dancing at the little garden cafe burst upon my sight. *huge grin*
How darling! I’d keep it safe, too.
This looks SO much like the clay penguin I made in grade five! (It’s missing one of its wings, but it proudly sits with my the rest of my grade school clay collection.) My technique wouldn’t warrant a WW, though
How cute! Ermm… I hesitate to ask, but, does his head pop off?
Well, his head doesn’t *pop* off, but yes, it comes off. He doesn’t mind, though, because it also goes right back on!
I love penguins! And this one is particularly likeable.
You should turn this design into a reuseable bottle for water to help eliminate the tons of water bottle waste generated every day. I’ll bet people would buy it.
That’s a cool idea! I hate those pesky water bottles. And actually, we’ve talked about something similar on the Pottery Forum — check out the thread on botijos.
